On a wonderful day …
…in a small coffee shop on the outskirts of the city of Hamburg in the North of Germany, the idea of the «Lesekeks» was born. Since that day, guests to the coffee shop have been enjoying literary delicacies in the shape of poems, sayings, aphorisms and short stories alongside their food and drink. As these readable "biscuits" are gaining popularity amongst guests and friends of the coffee shop, who have been increasingly asking for more texts and pieces of wisdom, we now "bake" these literary delicacies in the shape of small eight-page brochures. «Der Lesekeks» is now served as an accompaniment to tea or coffee instead of a real biscuit. The word "Lesekeks" is a neologism, a creative word, made up of "Lesen" [read] and "Keks" [biscuit]. In Germany it is obvious through the miniature size of the small book (DIN A7, height 74mm x105mm) that it is an alternative to a real biscuit or piece of chocolate. This small gesture delights our guests time and again, turning them into loyal friends of our coffee shop.
